Hyper-V Amigos Showcast 15 – VMFleet explained

Finally, they Hyper-V Amigos are online again! Didier and Carsten found the time to do a 2-hour Showcast about VMFleet. They explain what VMFleet is, do a lot of benchmarking of a Hyper-converged S2D Cluster, and finally show the complete installation of VMFeet from scratch.

If you do Storage Spaces Direct installations you should watch this episode.

    Hi Carsten,

can I only run VMfleet on Storage Spaces Direct? Or can I also test my iSCSI storage? Is it only possible to check Cluster Shared Volume (I assume) or is there also a way to check single iSCSI LUNs (no CSV).

    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,

originally VMFleet is built for a Hyper-converged S2D Cluster. I think it should also work with Hyper-V and SAN Storage when it uses CSVs. With a single iSCSI LUN I don’t think so.

    Cheers Carsten

    Hi Carsten and Didier,
many thanks for your great Showcast about VMFleet. I’m just testing S2D in a lab-Environment, it helped me a lot to understand how VMFleet works and how to interpret the results. We’ re still busy solving a compatibility-issue of our Servers with S2D, which forced us to stop testing. After that, I’d be glad to Exchange our experiences with you.
    Thanks,
    Rainer
